Alpacas, Orcas, Bald Eagles, dall's porpoise and harbor Seals!!! WOW, was today busy!! We were up and going really early this morning because we had a lot planned. First thing, we went to make our reservations on the whale watching boat and to make sure that dad could get on without much of a challenge. And of course it was no problem for him. So mom was FINALLY going to get to see "her" whales!!!!! Our boat was not scheduled to leave until 1pm, so we set off across the island to visit the local Alpaca farm. They were absolutly adorable!! We then went out to lunch in downtown Friday Harbor. After lunch it was time for us to board the boat!!!
We set sail around the island and after about an hour we spotted our first Orca whale!!! Oh my gosh, it was amazing and surreal. There were 3 groups (pods) of them meeting up and so there was a bit of action. There were some that breached the water, others splashing there tails and most just coming to the surface and diving again. Unfortunatly, it wasn't easy to get a good picture of them. We probably watched them for about 2 hours before we had to return to the harbor. But before we got back, we spotted about 5 bald eagles and an island full of harbor seals. It was almost all too much to take in. The weather could not have been better. It was sunny and beautiful, so it did not matter that it was only about 60 degrees out and a bit cooler even on the water. This had to be our most exciting day to date!!!
