Day 7!!! Wow, we've already been on the road for a week and we are STILL in California!!!!
Anyway, we met up with Anja and co this morning at 9 o'clock for breakfast. Like I said yesterday, her parents (Heinz and Doris) had no idea that we were coming and so once they realized who they saw coming up behind them in line at the restaurant they were in a bit of shock.....happy shock, of course. We had an amazing visit with them and it was great finally meeting her fiance, Brooke. We all chatted for about 3 hours before we headed out. Once we left Sacramento, we headed back east driving along the shore of Clear Lake and then into the beginning of the Redwood Forests. Once we started seeing how big the trees were, we were all in complete awe!! Mother nature sure can come up with some amazing things!! We ended our evening in the northern California town of Eureka. We will be driving through the coastal Redwood forests tomorrow and hopefully getting a few nice pictures of us and the gentle giants!!!!

Day 6!!!

We took it a bit slower today. We spent the night in Marin County just north of San Francisco. We had to get some laundry done so we didn't leave the hotel until after 11. We headed east to the wine country. we drove through Sonoma mostly, catching a glimpse of Napa Valley as well. We stopped off at the Jack London Village in Glenn Ellen and tasted some olive oils and some homemade chocolates.....both delicious. We ended up staying here for lunch as well in a renovated mill. After lunch we headed even further east to Sacramento to visit a friend of mine (Anja) from Germany who moved there a couple of years ago. Once we found a hotel we went to bed early so we could meet up with Anja and her fiance and her parents who I was surprising with my visit. They just happened to also be in town visiting from Hamburg because Anja is getting married next month!! Can't wait to see them all!!!!!!!
